Teacher kills wife over Bank cash withdrawal

Lira. The Police in Lira have arrested and are holding in their custody Boniface Aweri (29) of Lira City East Division over allegations of murdering his wife Licinia Akirapa following a protracted fight between the duo after the later accused the former of withdrawing money from her bank account.

According to one of the deceased’s children, the parents had along quarrel and fight at night over issues of money which was withdrawn from the bank account. Aweri is a teacher at Kiryandongo High School and had returned home following the directive by the President for closure of all schools and institutions of higher learning as a measure to control the spread of the corona virus.

Akirapa Licinia (30) years old lango by tribe is a community paralegal with human rights awareness and promotion and a resident of ireda shamba cell ireda West Ward Lira City East division.

After the murder, Aweri reportedly went to the police and registered a case of suicide by the deceased but when the crime scene investigators visited the scene, it was discovered that it was not suicide as the body was found in a position contrary to the statements.

The North Kyoga regional police spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema confirmed the incident adding that police have commenced investigations into the matter.

Okema says a file has already been opened at Ireda shamba police post vide 02/24/06/2021 and Lira CRB 704/2021.

The body is currently at Lira Referral hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
