Gloford gifts Lango with 50 million worth of medical supplies

Global Forum for Development (Gloford), a Lira City based civil society organization with its partners have donated medical supplies to selected health facilities in Lango sub-region worth UGX 50 million in abid to boost the fight against the contagious Covid-19 disease.

In the recent days there has been a spike in the number of cases reported in the region with Lira City topping up the list. The sub region has so far registered over 1000 confirmed cases and lost more than 50 people since the outbreak of the disease in the Country in March 2020

The Chief Executive Officer of Gloford Morris Chris Ongom, told LBS in an interview that with support from partners like Field Ready in USA and NeedsList in Canada, they have been able to distribute 5000 face shields to different health facilities and mothers in some markets.

According to the distribution list shared by Gloford,350 face shields have been given to Amach Health Center IV,300 for Amai Hospital in Amolatar and designated number of 1000 face shields to be handed over to Oyam District.

Ongom who is also the President of Lira City Development Forum, saysan organization they couldn’t fold their hands and do nothing at such a time like this.

He added that they have joined government and all actors of good will for the protection and preservation of people’s lives.

According to the latest figures from the Ministry of Health as of 27th June 2021, so far Uganda has tested 1,319,958 out of which 79434 have been confirmed positive.

Todate at least 989 people have succumbed to the deadly disease but worth noting that 52382 have since recovered.
