Rwenkunye-Puranga Road will be completed on Schedule-Government

The Prime Minister Rt. Hon Robinah Nabanja has committed that government will ensure that the 191 Kilometers Rwenkunye-Apac-Lira to Puranga road is completed on schedule.

Giving her response to Parliament Thursday evening during the Prime Minister’s time, Nabanja informed the house that the road is in the priority list and that government identified it amongst the key projects to be undertake in the National Development Plan 3.

The Member of Parliament for Maruzi County North Hon Okello Nelson had raised before the house that the upgrading of the road has increasingly delayed and that the contractor was demobilizing the equipment from the site.

Okello says the people of Apac were planning to demonstrate over the delays in the construction of the road after multiple promises by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to have the road upgraded to bitumen

Otuke County MP Hon Paul Omara interjected informing Parliament that Lango has the worst road network and that government should ensure it improves on the status of the roads in the region.

Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja clarified to  the house that the two contractors are on site proceeding with the works and that money for the upgrading of the road is budgeted for in the financial year 2020/2021 and that it is available.

In October 2020, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni flagged flaked by different dignitaries flagged off the upgrading of the road which will cost UGX 753 Billion

Two companies,Sadeem Al-Kuwait General Trading and contracting company and Gulsan Insaat Sanayai Turizm Nakliyat were awaded the contract to upgrade the road.
