Eight people are in police custody in Apac district after they were arrested for participating in a drinking competition that left a 25-year-old man dead.

On Thursday last week, the eight suspects reportedly organized a drinking competition at Oparomo village in Akokoro sub-county.

The drinking competition attracted participation from the deceased Yamokutu Ongom 25, and several others.

The competition was held at Waikobo landing site in the same village.

Rodgers Akena, the brother of the deceased, says the organizer of the competition had a bad intention although he failed to disclose.

The chairman of local council one of the area Moses Munu says Waikobo landing site is regarded as a hideout for criminals.

Morris Oludi, the clan chief of Arak Ongoda of which Yamokutu is a subject, says arrangement is under way for blood compensation.

The officer in charge of the criminal investigation department of Apac central police station Catherine Eunice Agwang confirmed that investigations into the matter are under way.
