Kalaki VHT’s and LC’s uncertain of getting covid-19 allowances

Members of the village health teams and village chairpersons in Kalaki district have not been facilitated with covid-19 allowances which was recently released by the government.

VHT’s and village chairpersons were budgeted for by the government to be facilitated with one hundred thousand shillings each for mobilizing village mates to observe covid-19 standard operating procedures.

However some of them who spoke but asked not to be named said their payments are now overdue.

Some of them have now laid down tools to mobilise and sensitize locals on covid-19.

Micheal Ekwatu, the village chairperson of Olep East village says it’s now over one month since their money was released and they have not been paid.

Pauline Epodoi, the Chief Administrative officer of Kalaki district asked the VHT’s and village chairpersons to remain calm as they are working on the payment since the money cannot be withdrawn in bulk.

However, the district communication officer of Kalaki Mr Julius Odeke said the money has not yet been received in the district.

He claims that the money is paid to the district health accounts.

Kalaki district recently received shillings Shs 239 million as supplementary funding in response to covid-19 fight.
