Central police station Kampala is investigating circumstances under which a man died in a taxi today.
The deceased identified as Peter Apangu was found dead in a taxi UAU 859L that was traveling from Katooke, Bwaise to Kampala City.
It is alleged that when the taxi reached Nakivubo Mews, the taxi operators tried to wake up Apangu to pay the fares only to realise that he was dead.
“Our homicide team has visited the scene and realised the deceased had a swelling on the eye, an indication that he had been beaten or hit.” Said Luke Owoyesigyire the Kampala Metropolitan police deputy spokesperson
He says the body of the deceased has been conveyed to city mortuary Mulago for a post mortem.
Owoyesigyire adds that the driver of the motor vehicle, John Semwogerere and Bruno Mawejje have been arrested to aid in the ongoing investigations.
