Mityana– One person has died and 14 others injured in an accident that happened along Kampala- Mityana highway on Wednesday.
The accident which occurred at around 08.30am involved a motor vehicle reg. no UBF 643K canter tipper that was transporting a dead body and mourners to Namutamba, Mityana district from Kikajjo, Namasuba- Kampala.
It’s alleged the vehicle veered off road and hit trees, killing one person identified as Timothy Kibirige, a 17 year old resident of Kitetika, Gayaza on spot and injured 14 other passengers.
Faridah Nampiima, the traffic police spokesperson has confirmed the accident registered by police at Lulumbu, Bujuuko along the Kampala- Mityana highway.
“The injured were rushed to Mulago hospital for treatment while the body of the deceased was conveyed to Mulago hospital mortuary for postmortem.” She said
Nampiima says the cause of the accident is yet to be established.
