PM Nabbanja to receive special recognition for excellent service

Kampala-The prime minister of Uganda Robinah Nabbanja is set to receive a special recognition by Uganda Martyrs University for impacting social development in the country.

Nabbanja is one of the over 30,000 alumni of the Catholic founded University that have gone on to excel in different walks of life. 24 of these are set to be awarded in the University’s inaugral edition of Outstanding Alumni Awards.

Nabbanja obtained both her Bachelors and Masters degrees at the University.

“The market has actually recognised our graduates ahead of us and we felt it necessary to respond as their Alma Mater by curving out a special day to recognize those who are excelling in different walks of life.” Says Prof Patrick Kyamanywa the Vice Chancellor Uganda Martyrs University

According to Kyamanywa, the awards scheduled for Saturday February 26, 2022 at Pope Paul IV Memorial Hotel, Lubaga will also recognize one of the most outstanding employers of their Alumni and one of the families whose children have gone through the university.

He made the revelation during a press conference to announce the Awards held in Kampala on Thursday.

Ambrose Kibuka Mukiibi, the president Uganda Martyrs University Alumni Association which jointly organised the Awards together with the University administration says the purpose of the awards is to appreciate the excelling alumni out there and also to show society that the university that set out to serve the church and society is indeed on its mark, 28 years down the road.

He added that the initiative is rooted in the scripture of Mathew 5:15-16  which reads “Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Uganda Martyrs University was established in 1993 as a Catholic-founded, not for-profit private university owned by the Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC) with the sole desire to serve the church and society in training a human resource with strong ethical and christian values.

The main campus is located in Nkozi, Mpigi district and other campuses are in Mbale, Lira, Kabale, Masaka, Kampala and Fort Portal.
