Uganda engages South Africa in a bid to open first military museum

Pretoria – Amb. Paul Amoru, the High Commissioner (Designate) of the Republic of Uganda to the Republic of South Africa on Sunday held his maiden meeting at the Uganda High Commission, Pretoria, with an 8-man delegation of UPDF officers who are on a bench marking visit with the South African National Defense Force from 30th July, 2022 to 6th August, 2022.

The delegation led by Brig.General Henry Matsiko, Chief Political Commissar of UPDF was received at O.R Tambo International Airport by Maj. Gen Fred Tolit, the Defense Advisor at Uganda High Commission, Pretoria.

Amb. Amoru thanked the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) for hosting the Ugandan delegation noting that the benchmarking exercise will go a long way in strengthening further the military to military cooperation and indeed the historical bilateral ties between the Republic of Uganda and the Republic of South Africa.

The main objective of the bench marking is to gain knowledge and understanding from the South African National Defense Force on the subject of building and running Military Museums as Uganda embarks on the implementation phase of the 1st Military Museum at Katonga.

Col. Phineas Moralo from the South African National Defence Force said they are honoured to host the UPDF delegation and welcomes the Joint efforts of the sister disciplined forces.
