Kaberamaido- An office attendant attached to the district education department Moses Egunu is on the run following allegations of theft.

It is alleged that Egunu stealthily sold off the 20 metallic windows removed from a temporary store. The windows were recently removed from a block from the department under renovation.

His luck ran out when District Education Officer Richard Elyebu saw a scrap dealer picking the last lot of windows and transporting them to his store in Kaberamaido town council. The matter was then reported to police and other district authorities.

According to police the scrap dealer, whose identity has not been established, is also on the run.
The officer in charge Criminal Investigations Department in Kaberamaido Sam Olaki confirmed that a case of theft has been reported under CRB 07/08/08/2022 at CPS Kaberamoido, and investigations are underway.

According to police preliminary investigations, Egunu broke into the store on Sunday and carried off 20 windows and when his action was noticed he vanished.

The chief Administrative Officer of Kaberamaido district John Stephen Kasdha told our reporter that Egunu, the prime suspect, has since gone missing and has never reported for duty since Monday.

Kaberamaido district headquarters are located 3km away from the town council, and there is no single security guard employed to man security.

According to police preliminary investigations, Egunu broke into the store on Sunday and carried off 20 windows and when his action was noticed he vanished.

Elyebu also disclosed that earlier, a computer that went missing in the education department was recovered from Egunu, but no disciplinary action was taken against him, an allegation that our reporter could not independently verify.
