Two UNRA enforcement officers arrested for shooting woman in Wakiso

Wakiso – Police at Wakiso have arrested two police officers attached to Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) for allegedly shooting at a woman during their operation.

The two officers are identified as Elisa Muhumuza and Evelyn Akello. 

It’s alleged that on Wednesday at about 4 pm while they were on UNRA operations, the duo pursued a vehicle belonging to one Eriya Twasse and in the pursuit they discharged some bullets which critically injured one person identified as Violet Nansereko. The victim is currently admitted at Mulago hospital.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson says investigations to ascertain circumstances that led to the shooting have ensued.

“We have ascertained that gun shots were fired by PC Muhumuza and more details will be available as soon as possible.The circumstances that led to all this are under investigations and the gun that is believed to have been used in the shooting was also gotten and exhibited.” Said Owoyesigyire

He adds that a drone motor vehicle registration number UBJ 885Q that was being used by the enforcement team from UNRA has been impounded.
