Busia school struggling to manage 7 students suffering from strange disease

Busia – The administration of Dabani Girls SS in Dabani sub-county, Busia district is struggling to manage seven students with a strange ailment.

It is reported that the students developed bodily weakness before they started shaking uncontrollably on Saturday.

Currently, the affected students can neither stand nor walk on their own. One of the affected students told URN that she started feeling cold and lost strength in her knees before collapsing on Saturday and her situation has not changed to date.

Wabwire Ebuneri, a father of one of the victims, says that he was shocked to receive information that his daughter has contracted a strange disease that she has never suffered since childhood. Wabwire suspects that the students could have been afflicted by evil spirits and appeals to the school management to invite clerics to pray for them.

Lackeri Nabwire Ebuneri, a mother says that she picked up her daughter from school and returned her home but she can neither walk nor stand on her own.

Beatrice Nabudde, the headmistress Dabani Girl’s Secondary school, says that medics from Masafu general hospital picked samples from the affects learners and are yet to return the results.

She says that victims are currently being treated for anxiety disorder and they expect them to normalize. The students have been quarantined in one classroom as they wait for results from the blood samples picked by the medics.

Dr. Mathias Wabwire Panyako, the Busia District Health Officer (DHO) told URN that he had not yet recieved information about the development since he was away for training in Mbale City.
