Ebola claims 4th health worker as death toll rises to 10

Kabarole-Margret Nabisubi, an anesthetic officer has succumbed to Ebola, the ministry of health announced on Wednesday morning.

Nabisubi (58) is the fourth health worker who has lost the battle to Ebola ever since the outbreak was confirmed on September 20, 2022.

According to Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, the Minister of Health, Nabisubi died from Fort Portal Hospital after battling the disease for 17 days.

“I regret to announce the passing of another Health worker, Ms. Nabisubi Margaret, an anesthetic officer. The 58 year old succumbed to Ebola at 4.33am this morning at Fort Portal Hospital (JMedic) after battling the disease for 17 days.” Tweeted Dr. Aceng, on Wednesday morning.

She added, “The late Margaret is the 4th health worker we have lost in the current Ebola outbreak after the probable case of the midwife, Dr. Ali and the health assistant in Kagadi District. May their souls rest in eternal peace.

Ebola has been confirmed in five districts including Mubende where the first case was reported. Others are Kyegegwa, Kassanda, Kagadi and Bunyangabu.

According to the Ministry of Health, the cumulative confirmed cases of Ebola now stand at 43, the cumulative confirmed deaths are 10 while recoveries are seven.
