Don’t depend on salary, MP Rwakajara advises workers

Kampala – Workers’ Member of Parliament Arinaitwe Rwakajara is advising employees not to rely on salaries if they are to accumulate wealth.

He says workers need to establish multiple lines of income generation to supplement their salaries and also act as a backup in case of loss of a job.

The MP said Uganda is a country of diverse opportunities that anyone can use to boost their livelihood.

“It’s not right for someone to depend on salary because if you relay on salary the way you are hired is the same way you can be fired but when you have a backup position you can always go back as a resort point,” Said Rwakajara on Saturday while interacting with students of Labour College of East Africa, Namuwongo campus at the Annual Directors’ Day.

The MP who is also the College Director further told the students not to look at their family backgrounds as a determinant for success emphasizing that “anyone can turn into something significant in this country, in this world as long as he or she is focused, dedicated, committed, and has the will to succeed.”

The day was also used to swear-in new guild cabinet. Among them were Moses Mugabe who was sworn in as the guild president and Sam Gombya as the guild speaker among others.

MP Rwakajara congratulated the new leaders and asked them to take on the mantle of leadership with vigor noting this can get them to national leadership.
