Wakiso – Police in Nansana have recovered a child that was allegedly kidnapped by a house maid.
The maid identified as Sylvia Nakawuki (16) is said to have disappeared with 6 year old Natasha Tumwebaze on December, 8, 2022 and has been demanding money from the mother one Rebecca Nanono from Kazinga, Nasana Municipality Wakiso district.
According to Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, the maid first demanded Shs 500,000 from the grandmother of the child and later started asking for Shs 20,000 for feeding the child.
“Two suspects were arrested initially, upon interogations the two claims the child was seen just moving within areas of Bwaise while the suspect was begging for phones from boda boda riders for communication,” says Onyango adding the suspects were released later.
He says through the help of local leaders of boda boda community on Wednesday, at around 1pm, the suspect was arrested within the jurisdiction of Bwaise with the victim.
“They were taken to Nansana police station pending interviewing and medical examination on the victim,” notes Onyango
He thanked the boda boda community in Bwaise for joining hands together with Police in order to look for the suspect and the victim, which has yielded results.
