UICT to host Vision Group’s inaugural education expo

Kampala – Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT), Nakawa is set to host the first ever education expo organised by Vision Group from January 27th -29th 2023.

The Expo dubbed New Vision Education Expo 2023 is supported by State House Skilling Program, Stanbic Bank and UICT. Other partners include Ministry of Education and Sports, National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), Makerere University and Medipal International HealthCare among others.

It will run under the theme: Where education and the world of employment meet, to drive home the linkage between education and employment.

Speaking at the launch of the Expo at Vision Group Corporate Office in Kampala on Thursday, Don Wanyama the Chief Executive Officer Vision Group said over 5,000 guests are expected at the 3-day event.

“The Education Expo will showcase what Uganda has to offer in the education industry so come and learn as we start the academic year for the local curriculum, back to school deals, guidance on potential schools, healthcare, insurance, school fees and financing,” said Wanyama

“It’s going to be a great learning experience, there’s going to be so much to showcase, there’s also going to be networking and other things. The gates will be open from 8AM to 8PM on all the three days,” noted Wanyama adding that there will be a modest entry fee of Shs10,000.

In his remarks, Dr. Fredrick Edward Kitoogo, the Principal of UICT thanked Vision Group for the opportunity to host the Expo. He said during the event, UICT will among others things provide ICT training to participants.

“Participants shall learn more about leveraging ICT for employment as we share expertise, ideas, services, and technologies. With ICT being a key driver to change, this training will help the country to connect, innovate, and transform society,” said Kitoogo

UICT, is a public tertiary institution under the supervision of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance and is managed and operated by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC).

It is mandated to provide Education, specialized and professional training, Applied Research, and Innovation; and Business consulting in the field of ICT to support the National objectives of improving the provision of services to the population, increased participation in the digital economy and well as the increase in job creation and improvement in livelihoods.
