Kole man kills uncle over Shs2000

Kole – Police in Kole district have in custody one Kelly Okecha for allegedly assaulting his uncle to death.

It’s alleged that the suspect had contracted the deceased identified as Jimmy Otim to construct for him a grass thatched house and gave him a deposit of Shs 2000. Otim was to start the work on Monday morning but he didn’t.

It’s reported that on Monday at around 5 pm, the suspect found the deceased at a drinking place at Abiropo Village, Aburu Parish, Ayer Sub-County in Kole District and assaulted him badly. He died in the process as they were looking for means to take him to a nearby health facility for first aid.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga police spokesperson says the suspect was apprehended on spot by the public and handed to Alemi Police Post.

Okema said in a statement on Tuesday that a team of police officers led by the District Police Commander Kole visited the scene of crime and recorded statements of eye witnesses.

He noted that the suspect was transferred to Kole Central Police Station for further management.

“We would like to very sincerely thank members of the public for acting within the law by arresting and handing over the suspect to the police as per Section 15 and 16 respectively of the criminal procedure code act,” said Okema, encouraging other areas to emulate such as one way of fighting mob action.
