UBTEB warns on fake learning institutions

Lira – Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) has warned parents not to take their children to institutions that are not offering national examinations.

“Don’t waste your money into taking your children to institutions that only do internal exams, unless it’s a national exam, that certificate will stop at the gate of that institution, ” warned Geoffrey Kawanguzi the Deputy Executive Secretary Finance, Human Resources and Administration at UBTEB

He sounded the warning while representing the Board Executive Secretary as chief guest at the 5th graduation ceremony for Ugandan Christian Institute for Professional Development (UCIPD) in Lira city on Thursday.

Speaking at the same function, Sam Omara the Director Uganda Christian Institute for Professional Development told the graduands to desist from corruption once they are employed. Quoting John 5: 18, Omara also asked them to avoid being lazy but to work for the betterment of the country.

Rt. Rev. Prof Alfred Olwa, the Bishop of the Diocese of Lango also the chairperson Governing council UCIPD encouraged graduates to further their studies noting that the graduation should serve as the launch of their next steps.

According to Olwa, life is about growth and graduates should increase their knowledge and skills.

“Explore the opportunities of how you can grow your profession, do not be satisfied with the status quo because the world you are moving in to is very competitive and you need to give yourself a competitive advantage through further training” said Olwa.

John Bosco Ogwal the principal of Uganda Christian Institute for Professional Development (UCIPD) says a total of 627 students were awarded diplomas and certificates in different courses at the institution’s 5th graduation ceremony. Of these 354 were female and 273 male.
