Mpigi- Police in Katonga and Mpigi district has in custody an Italian national for the alleged rape of a 23 year old maid on Tuesday last week.
The suspect identified as Forouzesh Patrick, a 53-year-old is a farmer in Bunamweri village, Mpigi town council in Mpigi district.
The facts gathered by police indicate that the suspect, met the victim at her sister’s place, who deals in chicken feed at Mpami village, and offered her a job as a housemaid, at a monthly pay of 200,000 shillings.
According to Fred Enanga the police spokesperson, the victim started work the following day of September 4, 2023 but while cleaning the table, she was grabbed by the suspect, dragged into the sofa, and raped. The suspect claimed it was common to have sex during rain.
“The victim informed her sister and on 06.09.2023, the matter was reported at Mpigi police station,” notes Enanga
He says the victim was medically examined and DNA samples obtained. Enanga says the suspect was arrested and examined on PF 24a.
“We continue to investigate such kind of suspects who take advantage of female workers, and sexually assault them,” notes Enanga.
He says that the police in coordination with the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions will ensure the suspect is charged to court, to help bring justice to the victim.
