Dokolo. In a somber announcement, it has been reported that Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal, the influential Member of Parliament representing Dokolo District Women’s Constituency, and former Miss Uganda, has passed away at the age of 77.
The news of her death, attributed to cancer, came from close family members, revealing that she breathed her last in a hospital in India on Thursday morning.
Known for her service in Uganda’s legislature since 1996, Ogwal played crucial roles in various parliamentary committees, including the Committee of Physical Infrastructure and the budget committee.
Beyond her political career, her life was marked by a rich history, from winning the Miss Uganda contest in 1969 to contributing significantly to Uganda’s political landscape. The passing of this iconic figure has left a void in Ugandan politics and a legacy that will be remembered.
