ISO Director Promoted to Brigadier

The Director of the Internal Security Organization (ISO) Charles Oluka has been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General. Oluka has been holding the rank of Colonel which he obtained three years ago.

He took over ISO in October 2020 from Col Frank Bagyenda who was facing enormous criticism over alleged concocted intelligence reports.

Oluka is among the 395 soldiers that President Yoweri Museveni has promoted from the rank of Lieutenant to Brigadier. Only Oluka has been promoted to the fourth highest military rank while four acting Colonels have been confirmed to the rank, 18 Lieutenant Colonels have been promoted to Colonel, and five acting Lieutenant Colonels have been confirmed to the rank.

Among those promoted from Lieutenant Colonel to full Colonel were Charles Ndawula and George Anduruga.  Similarly, 61 Majors have been promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, two acting Majors have been confirmed to the rank, 92 Captains have been promoted to Major, two acting Captains have been confirmed to the rank and 210 Lieutenants have been promoted to the rank of Captain.

“The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and UPDF fraternity congratulate the Senior and Junior officers upon their well-deserved promotion,” Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye the UPDF Spokesperson said.
