Before her statement, Alwoc was warmly welcomed by her mother’s political foot soldiers who vowed to have no one else apart from Alwoc to replace the iron lady in Parliament.

“For the people of Dokolo, I am here to accomplish Mama’s projects, as you have welcomed me in big numbers, I now encourage you to mobilize others as you have been doing to help my mother to vote for me ” Alwoc told agents.

She said that she would continue supporting LC I $ II SACCOs, elders, school-going children, and church constructions among others that Cecilia Ogwal has been doing in the Dokolo district.

The late Cecilia Ogwal referred to as the ‘Iron Lady’ because of her firm articulation of political issues in the country had promised to handle her task of; eradicating poverty, promoting girl child education, and lobbying the government to work on two bridges that connect the district to other areas besides boosting Village Saving and Loan Associations [VSLAs].

Meanwhile, James Otto Apili the district Chairperson of Dokolo said that the community should support Alwoc Ogwal to go and complete her mother’s term of office.

According to Oto, rallying behind Alwoc Ogwal is just to show love to the family because of what Cecilia Ogwal did for the betterment of the Dokolo district.

He added that very soon they are going to start fulfilling Cecilia’s pledges and other projects of providing choir uniform and distributing of mattresses to senior students as usual.

Moses Otyek, the elder son of Cecilia Ogwal said their family was overwhelmed with gratitude when the body of their Mother Cecilia Ogwal was brought to Dokolo and received a warm welcome.

Otyek said that the love that the Dokolo district gave to their late mother smoothened their hearts and this was partly why they would love to continue with her projects.

He said the family chose Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal to replace her late mother because she was behind most of Cecilia’s developmental projects while outside the country both materially and financially.

The Parliamentary seat for Dokolo woman MP fell vacant following the death of the former Member of Parliament, the Late Cecilia Ogwal in January 2024.

Ms Alwoc Ogwal who holds a PhD in economics was neither born in Dokolo nor married there.
