Dokolo. Adong Janet Rose Elau will defend her seat in Dokolo women MP by-election which is yet to be scheduled by the Uganda independent electoral commission following the death of former woman MP Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal on January 18 2024.

Addressing NRM women league on Monday at her home in central Ward Dokolo town council, Adongo rallied them to step up vote hunting in their different areas to ensure that NRM Party emerges victorious in Dokolo by-election if its organized.

“I want to assure you that NRM party Secretariat is working with me and there will be no party primary election in this move ” Adongo narrated her political future.

Much as other politicians who are eyeing Late Cecilia Ogwal’s position in NRM ticket have started campaigning, Adongo asked her voters to stay calm because the NRM party is not ready for primary election.

The chairperson NRM women league Grace Otim said they will fully support flag bearer as guided by the party constitution.

The meeting also resolved that NRM party Secretariat should not organize party primary election because Adongo Janet Rose Elau is still a flag bearer til 2026.

Meanwhile the administrative secretary NRM party Dokolo JB Otoke when contacted to clarify whether the Secretariat has cleared Adongo, he said that he hasn’t received official communication.

“We are waiting for the official communication from the Secretariat and whatever message circulating on social media or around your area just treat it as rumours” Otoke told this website in a phone interview.
