Kaberamaido: Locals welcome Gov’t move to upgrade 69.3km Katine-Ochero road 

This came after Finance Minister signed  a loan financing agreement worth USD 30 million for the Katine-Ochero road upgrading project with the Director General,OPEC Fund for International Development Dr.Abdulhamid Al-Khalifa at Ministry of Finance, planning and Economic Development.

The road will connect the districts of Soroti and Kaberamaido and entails construction of a 69.3km with lane roadway including earth works, pavement and drainage works.

“On behalf of the people of Uganda, I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the beneficial and cordial cooperation with OPEC Fund for International Development,” said Hon. Matia Kasaija.

The Finance Minister who was flanked by the Works Minister Gen. Katumba Wamala urged Ministry of works where the loan will be executed to ensure that all Gov’t obligations are fully met so that the project can be expeditiously implemented.

Epiu Grace Junior the Kaberamaido district youth councilor sent his congratulatory message to government of Uganda for the vision of upgrading the road.

“District can’t develop without good roads network that smoothen trade ” Epiu said citing Dokolo district which is now the northern gateway with good road network.

He said the development directly benefits the local people especially youth in boosting trade and job creation both within and outside the area.

John Epuko 55, explained that the road users are very happy and are expecting the work to start with immediate effect.

He thanked Government for valuing their district and providing enough money for road construction besides other developments.
