“Dokolo Workers’ League Leader Urges Active Participation in Voter Update Exercise.”

The political landscape in Dokolo district is heating up as the race for the 2026 General Elections and Referenda approaches. ‎‎

And one name that is making waves is that of Ambrose Ogwang, popularly known as Awitong.‎‎

Ogwang, who also serves as the Regional Coordinator Worker’s League under NRM party for Lango, is vying for the position of District Chairperson in the upcoming elections.‎‎

As the clock ticks closer to the 2026 elections, Ogwang is calling on all eligible voters in Dokolo district to participate in the Electoral Commission’s General Update of the National Voters’ Register.‎‎

Scheduled to take place from 20th January to 10th February 2025, this exercise is crucial in ensuring that all eligible voters are registered and ready to exercise their democratic right during the 2026 General Elections.‎‎

Speaking at the funeral of Florence Auma, a resident of Abino cell in Bata town council, Ogwang stressed the importance of possessing a national identity card as it will soon be used for registering individuals for medical insurance. ‎‎

This move is awaiting approval from Parliament, and Ogwang encourages all Ugandans to secure their IDs and participate in the update exercise.

‎‎Rashid Eton Okello, the LC3 chairperson of Bata town council, also chimed in with a piece of advice for men. ‎‎

He urged them to take a cue from women when it comes to seeking medical attention and to avoid marrying multiple wives, as it often leads to problems in the family.‎‎

Peter Adim Awany, the LC3 chairperson of Kwera sub-county, also attended the funeral and advised the youth to learn from their elders when it comes to managing families. ‎‎

He emphasized the importance of avoiding conflicts over inheritance by copying how the elders handle such matters.

‎‎Lino Okwir, who represented Dr. Rosemary Alwoc, the elder daughter of the late Cecilia Atim Ogwal, also shared her condolences for the family.

‎‎Okwir revealed that Alwoc is preparing to compete in the 2026-31 elections and is eager to come back and serve the people of Dokolo district.‎‎

As the voter update exercise draws near, it is crucial for all eligible voters in Dokolo district to heed the call of Awitong and participate.‎
