KALAKI:Monica Asako, the Daughter of late Brig. Gen. Charles Oluka who was the former ISO Director has set her sights on the Kalaki woman MP seat, with plans to unseat incumbent Jennifer Nalukwago Ayo.
With her strong background in nursing and public health, Asako is determined to bring positive change to the district and represent the voices of her people in parliament.
In an interview with our reporter, Asako confidently declared that she is 80% ready for the upcoming NRM party primary election.
She noted that her consultation with the entire district of Kalaki has made her eager to take on the role of women MP to serve the best interests of her community.
But what sets Asako apart from other candidates? According to her, it is her passion for building a strong and prosperous Kalaki district.
Asako envisions a district where the needs and interests of the people are represented in parliament.
“With my experience as a nursing officer and a master’s degree in public health, I have the skills and knowledge to make this vision a reality” Asako said.
However, Asako’s goals go beyond just her own district. She recognizes the importance of empowering women and youth in the development of the entire region.
She plans to promote economic empowerment for women and provide youth with the necessary skills to thrive.
She also aims to ensure that government officials are treated equally in terms of access to resources, particularly in the agricultural sector among others.
Ever the unifier, Asako also emphasized the need for unity between Teso and Kumam to bring progress and growth to the district.
She plans to run under the NRM ticket and use her position as women MP to deliver the services and support needed for the district’s development.
In the words of Asako, “I am not going to Parliament for my self-interest, but to represent the voices of the people of Kalaki, especially women who are not being heard.
Her plans and vision for a better future have gained her a strong following and support from the community.
Her fresh perspective and dedication to serving the people make her a strong candidate for the upcoming elections.
