The recent incident at Dokolo Oil Company Limited has left the entire community in shock.
On Monday morning, impostor officials from the Inspectorate of Government (IGG) reportedly entered the company premises and robbed over 6 million shillings in broad daylight.
The audacity of these criminals is alarming, especially considering the fact that they carried out the robbery in the presence of security guards and pump attendants.
According to the Managing Director of Dokolo Oil Company Limited, John Baptist Okello Okello, the impostors claimed to be from the IGG office and were there to conduct an audit.
However, their true intentions were revealed when they pulled out guns and held the manager at gunpoint.
He adds that the matter was immediately reported to the Dokolo Central police station for further investigation.
Benard Olila, the manager of Dokolo Oil Company Limited, recounted the terrifying experience of being held at gunpoint and robbed of millions of shillings.
According to Olila, he had welcomed these impostors thinking that they were genuine officials from the IGG office.
”Little did i know that they had come to rob the company. The impostors threatened to shoot me dead if i make any noise and later tied me up with selotape before making off with the money” he said.
Olila estimates that over 6 million shillings was stolen from the office.
Pump attendant Babra Akech was an eyewitness to the robbery and testified that the impostor went straight to the manager’s office without notifying the security.
She said after committing the crime, they walked calmly along the Dokolo-Sototi highway.
”It was only when the accountant noticed that the manager was missing and raised the alarm that he was rescued” she added.
The District Police Commander Dokolo, Patient Baganzi, divulged that the police immediately responded to the reported incident and recorded statements from some people at the scene.
She also advised business owners to install CCTV cameras to deter similar incidents from happening in the future.
