LCI Celebrates One Year Anniversary of Odongo Okune as Paramount Chief‎‎

LIRA CITY: The Lango cultural institution (LCI) has officially announced that they will be celebrating the one year anniversary of Eng. Dr. Michael Moses Odongo Okune as the Lango paramount chief in Otuke district.

‎‎However, due to the current road conditions, it may be difficult for some celebrants to attend the event.‎‎

The anniversary will take place on 2.11.2025, to mark the one year since Odongo Okune was gazetted as the Lango cultural leader by the government.

‎‎During a press conference held at the Lango cultural center, speaker Willy Omodo Omodo confirmed the details of the anniversary event.‎‎

He explained that celebrants will travel from Lira, taking a diversion through Abako, Amugu in Alebtong district to Orungo in Amuria, before finally reaching Otuke for the event. ‎‎

This is due to the main road from Lira to Otuke being cut off, and the organizers are not willing to make any changes for the day.

‎‎When it comes to the dress code for the clan chiefs, Omodo stated that they will be dressed in traditional attire, wearing shorts and tire shoes to pay homage to the traditional Lango dress.‎‎

Omodo emphasized that it is important for the clan chiefs to adhere to the guidelines previously given to them in order to ensure the success of the event, which will take place at Otuke hill (Rock).‎‎

The Lango paramount chief anniversary will kick off on 1.11.2025 with a football competition between the clan chiefs and a media team. This event will be known as the Wonnyaci cup.‎
