“Journeying to a Greener Future: The Trans-Africa E-Mobility Expedition ‘From the Pearl to the Cape'”

The Uganda High Commission in Pretoria in partnership with the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation and Kira Motors, has launched the Trans-Africa E-Mobility Expedition “From the Pearl to the Cape” which departed from Kampala on Thursday and will traverse Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, Eswatini, and South Africa.

‎The Africa continent is full of hidden treasures, from its diverse cultures to its rich natural resources. And now, there’s a new addition to this list of treasures – the Trans-Africa E-Mobility Expedition “From the Pearl to the Cape.”

This groundbreaking initiative was launched by the Uganda High Commission in Pretoria, in partnership with the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation and Kira Motors, showcasing Uganda’s innovative products and agricultural excellence.

The expedition kicked off on November 20, with the flagship Kayla E-Coach 2025 leading the way. This state-of-the-art electric vehicle, designed by Kira Motors, is a symbol of Uganda’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.

It embodies the spirit of the expedition to promote “Made in Africa for Africa.”

The expedition will traverse through Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, Eswatini, and South Africa, making major stops in key cities such as Francistown, Gaborone, Pretoria, Johannesburg, Mbabane, and finally, culminating in Cape Town on December 5-6.

Along the way, the team will showcase Uganda’s high-quality agricultural products and engage in policy meetings and B2B engagements with host governments and private sector partners.

The Trans-Africa E-Mobility Expedition is a testament to Uganda’s commitment to promoting sustainable development and innovation.
