OTUKE: Otuke East MP Julius Acon Bua has taken a proactive step towards addressing the water crisis in his constituency and beyond.

The MP has recently commenced the implementation of a project that aims to drill ten (10) new boreholes in three (3) different districts in Lango.

This project, which began last Wednesday, will bring much-needed relief to the residents who have been facing water scarcity for too long.

To ensure the success of this project, a team of surveyors has been deployed to analyze the area and determine the most suitable locations for drilling.

This technical analysis is crucial in identifying areas where water is abundant, so the drilling team can begin their work.

In the first phase of the project, five (5) boreholes will be drilled in Otuke East, one in Abia sub county of Alebtong district, one borehole in Amolatar district, and another five in Otuke West county in the second phase.

The villages in Otuke East that will benefit from this project include Olanyo cell in Olech Ward, Otuke town council, Barapua in Alir parish Ogwete sub county, Arwotwany in Oluro parish Ogor sub county, and Adur in Ating parish Orum sub county.

These villages have been struggling with water scarcity, and with the implementation of this project, their access to clean and safe water will be greatly improved.

‎In Alebtong district, the MP will extend his efforts to the village of Te-gweng in Atin-kok parish, Abia sub county.

According to the vice chairperson of Olanyo cell, Olech ward in Otuke town council, Alfred Okar, the efforts of MP Julius Achon Bua to provide a borehole in their community will greatly benefit the residents.

‎”This is because the area has been plagued by waterborne diseases due to the use of unclean water” he said.

Okar also expressed that the community will show their gratitude by voting for Achon Bua in the upcoming 2026-31 parliamentary election.

‎Another resident named Jimmy Okello also praised the borehole initiative, stating that it will not only be beneficial for the community as a whole, but also for the young people who make bricks for business.

‎”These individuals will now have a source of clean water to support their financial needs, such as paying for school fees and managing their households” Okello expressed gratitude.

Ms Judita Albino Abwango warmly welcomed the project, hailing Achon Bua as a leader who cares for his community.

She specifically mentioned his previous efforts, such as distributing seeds for crops like simsim and maize, as well as providing an ambulance for sick community members.

In an interview with LBS radio, MP Julius Achon Bua shared that the funding for this project comes from his personal salary as well as support from Australia.

He  encouraged residents of the benefiting villages to take care of the water points and protect them by locally fencing them.

MP Achon urges villages that have not yet received a borehole, to be patient as his aim is to drill more boreholes and bring clean water to the wider community.

He believes that as leaders, it is their responsibility to address the concerns and problems faced by the community.

MP Achon also emphasized that he will continue to support Otuke East, Lango, and Uganda, as it is his duty to support and uplift his community.
