DOKOLO: Farmers in Ageni Parish Plead for Help of casava cuttings from MP Candidate Vincent Opito in Fight Against Hunger as they donates firewood, Cash and food items with hope that it will be used to cater for the welfare of celebrants a day after Opito wins Dokolo South parliamentary election.‎‎

This issue was brought to light during a recent campaign rally for UPC’s Vincent Opito at Ageni primary school in Okwongodul sub county, Dokolo South.‎‎

During the event, Mr. Joseph Otim spoke about the dire situation that many farmers in the area are facing.

‎‎He explained that the sub county is surrounded by Lake Kwania and often experiences floods during heavy rains, resulting in damaged crops and limited access to food. ‎‎

Otim then made a heartfelt plea to candidate Vincent Opito, asking him to be the savior of the farmers by providing them with cassava stems if he wins the 2026-31 Dokolo South parliamentary race.‎‎

Other farmers noted that they also faces challenges such as poor health facilities, water scarcity, bad road networks, and even issues with their fishing industry.

‎‎They said fishermen are struggling to make a living as their equipment is often destroyed and some have even lost their lives, leaving their families in a dire situation.‎‎

One concerned person, Patrick Opio Obote, pointed out that the lack of access to education is also a major issue in Ageni parish and Okwongodul sub county at large.‎‎

He asked the crowd whether there is a single family or household in the area with a child pursuing studies in medicine, accounting, or engineering.

Sadly, no one in the audience was able to raise their hand, highlighting the harsh reality that many children in Okwongodul are unable to receive a quality education.‎‎

Susan Emede, another resident, blames the current state of the community on the lack of good leaders. ‎‎

According to her, the challenges being faced by the people of Okwongodul and Dokolo South are a direct result of leaders who have failed to fulfill their responsibilities.‎

‎In response to these concerns, Vincent Opito, the Dokolo South MP hopeful, acknowledged the difficulties that the community is facing and promised to address them once he is elected. ‎‎

He also addressed the issue of the lake and the struggling fishing industry, promising to provide support and assistance to those who rely on it for their livelihood.‎‎

Opito was shocked to hear that people had previously praised Okwongodul and Kwera sub counties for their good service delivery. ‎‎

He stated, “but upon my visit, I can see that you are the worst sub counties in terms of service delivery.” He urged the voters not to be swayed by empty promises or bribes but to choose a leader who truly has their best interests at heart.‎‎

Recently while campaigning in Angwenya, Adwila and Atur Western Ward Dokolo town council , Opito explained how his heartbeat feels like helping expectant mothers, youth and children with sickle cell that are always left out.‎‎

On the issue of education, Opito said he will give books to different schools on day one of the academic year to tackle absentesm.‎‎

Opito said the interest of changing leadership in Dokolo South lies in the hands of every political parties around.‎‎

He also warns NRM candidates against defaming that what president museveni has given in the village is theirs.‎‎

Opito who was given firewoods by women who said it will be for cooking during celebration after him winning election, promised to drill two boreholes in Adwila parish.‎‎

He noted that Adwila parish has no school, no health facility among others that he will address once given mandate.‎
