Masaka, Uganda –The National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has promised to apprehend individuals intimidating NRM supporters in Masaka City, assuring them of a peaceful election period.
Speaking at a campaign rally at Masaka Liberation Square, Museveni addressed concerns raised by NRM leaders about opposition politicians threatening NRM supporters and cadres.

Museveni warned opposition politicians against frustrating development programs in Masaka, citing his past experiences in implementing visible development strides in the district and city.
He cautioned the electorate against voting for “ideologically disoriented” opposition politicians who selfishly block development initiatives, particularly wealth creation programs.
The NRM presidential candidate promised to address requests made by Masaka district and city NRM leaders, including increasing Parish Development Model Funds to Sh300 million in his next term of office.
He also announced plans to include more work groups, such as fishing communities, bodaboda operators, and car mechanics, into wealth creation funding.
Museveni ruled out any excuses for poverty in Masaka district and city, citing the NRM government’s initiatives to cater to all clusters of people.

He confirmed plans to establish two new industrial parks in Masaka, one at Bukakata and another in Lukaya, to create job opportunities for area residents.
The NRM presidential candidate commended residents of Masaka for their uptake of the coffee growing initiative and promised to grant irrigation schemes and fertilizers to boost their yields.

He also assured the residents of Kyesiiga Sub-county of plans to deliver electricity to their villages, as the only pending sub-county on electricity reach in Masaka district.
Museveni reminded the electorate not to gamble with leadership and opposition politicians, whom he described as mediocres.
He asked Masaka residents to fully enroll onto government socioeconomic empowerment funds for district wealth creation and to vote for development-oriented leaders from the NRM party.

Other NRM leaders, including National Vice Chairperson Alhaji Moses Kigongo, Second National Vice Chairperson Anita Among, and Vice Chairperson for Buganda Sub-region Haruna Kasoro, also addressed the rally, highlighting development interventions by the NRM in Masaka City and district and warning opposition politicians against clinging to NRM gains.
