DOKOLO, UGANDA – With only eight days remaining until the highly anticipated Ugandan general elections, Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Dokolo District, Mr. Isaac Ocheng Otim, has made a passionate appeal to residents and Uganda at large to prioritize peace, love, and harmony.
In an exclusive interview with our reporter at his office, Ocheng emphasized the importance of maintaining a peaceful atmosphere during and after the elections, scheduled to take place on January 15, 2026.
He urged residents to remain focused, love one another, and harmonize to avoid chaos, assuring the people of Dokolo District of a peaceful election, warning people against being volatile.
As the country prepares to elect a President and Members of Parliament, Ocheng stressed that after the elections, everyone will need to unite, and holding grudges will make it difficult for people to reconcile.
He, therefore, called on residents to abandon violence and instead, promote peaceful coexistence.
The Assistant RDC also encouraged voters to turn out in large numbers on polling day and exercise their right to vote for leaders who will serve the community, not just their families.
He advised that after voting, all voters should return home to prevent unplanned violence, citing a recent incident in Apac District, where clashes between the UPC flag bearer and an independent candidate resulted in chaos.
To ensure a secure environment on polling day, Ocheng assured residents of Dokolo District of tight security, warning that youth who tend to cause violence will risk arrest.
He concluded by emphasizing that voting is a fundamental right, and every citizen should exercise it to choose their leaders.
