Mortuary Services at Dokolo Health Center Suspended for One Month Due to Expansion Work

Mortuary services at the Dokolo Health Center IV have been temporarily suspended for one month. But don’t worry, this is for the greater good.

‎The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Dokolo, Babra Akech, has announced that this suspension is due to the expansion of the mortuary room.

‎The existing mortuary facility at Dokolo Health Center IV has been facing challenges in providing enough space and satisfactory services to the community.

‎With only one fridge that can hold a maximum of 8 bodies, there was not enough space to cater to the growing demand for mortuary services.

This has resulted in the suspension of the services for one month to allow for expansion and improvement.

‎According to the In-Charge of Dokolo Health Center IV, Dr Odur Emmanuel, the expansion will not only increase the capacity of the mortuary, but it will also provide better facilities for the mortuary attendant.

This will enhance their ability to provide necessary services and ensure the dignity of the deceased is maintained.

‎Dr Odur also mentioned that the expansion will include a dedicated room for conducting postmortem examinations, which previously had to be done in a limited area.

‎”This caused inconvenience and delays for both the staff and families of the deceased. With the new facility, this will no longer be a problem” he explained.

‎Furthermore, the new mortuary will also have a separate room for dressing and placing the body into the coffin, ensuring proper handling and preparation of the deceased.

In addition to the above improvements, the In-Charge also highlighted the need for water to be extended to the mortuary. This will ensure proper hygiene and sanitation in the mortuary facility.

‎He said that an exit road will also be opened to avoid any interference with the normal services and ambulance services at the health center.

‎These developments have been met with mixed reactions from the community. While some are happy and excited for the improved services, others are concerned about the additional cost of seeking mortuary services from neighboring districts.

However, we must remember that this temporary inconvenience will result in long-term benefits for the community.
