The Police in Alebtong Central Police Station is currently investigating a case of murder by assault that was registered at the Alebtong Central Police Station on 23/02/2026.
SP. Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga regional Police spokesperson said the incident is alleged to have occurred in Te Cuk Cell, Okum Ward, Amugu Town Council, and was reported by CPL Muwangi Phillip, aged 52 years, attached to Amugu Town Council Police Station.
Okema said the victim, identified as Apio Evaline, a 29-year-old hairdresser and resident of Te Cuk Cell, was found lifeless in a house belonging to Abago Catherine.
He said the suspect in custody, Engunyu Isaac, aged 27 years and resident of Te Cuk Cell, is a welder by profession.
According to Okema, upon receiving the information, the police responded swiftly and found the body of the deceased lying inside the house with bloodstains on the floor.
He said the scene was processed and documented by the Scene of Crime Officer, with the assistance of a team from CPS Alebtong and a Canine Unit from CPS Dokolo.
Okema explained that the canine tracked from the scene and led handlers to the residence of the suspect, who was subsequently arrested for further investigation.
Okema said the preliminary findings from the examination of the body revealed a rope tied around the victim’s neck, passing through the mouth, a stab wound on the right eye, and foam and bloodstained discharge from the mouth and nostrils.The body was also found half-naked with the undergarment rolled down to the feet.
