Kampala, Uganda — Chief Justice Dr. Flavian Zeija was officially ushered into his chambers at the Supreme Court in a ceremony marked by prayer, reflection, and celebration.
The appointment and installation of a new Chief Justice is always a significant event in the justice system of many country.
The spiritual segment of the ceremony was led by the Assistant Parish Priest of Lweza Parish, Fr. John Luke Ssebuliba.

In his prayers and blessings, he congratulated the Chief Justice on his well-deserved appointment and spoke of the immense responsibility that comes with the office.
Fr. Ssebuliba emphasized the vital role of divine guidance in fulfilling the duties of the Chief Justice, and he prayed for wisdom, integrity, and grace to guide him in his work.
The occasion was graced by the presence of high-ranking officials, including the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Judiciary, Dr. Pius Bigirimana, HW Ayebare Tumwebaze, the Registrar of the Supreme Court, and other judicial and non-judicial staff attached to the Chief Justice’s chambers.

Reflecting on the auspicious occasion, the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Judiciary, Dr. Pius Bigirimana, recalled a moment of foresight in 2021 when he expressed confidence that Justice Dr. Zeija would one day become the Chief Justice.
In his remarks, the Chief Justice expressed his gratitude to the Permanent Secretary and the staff for their unwavering support and promised to work hand in hand with them in his new role.
He also extended his appreciation to the clergy for blessing him with divine guidance as he takes on this significant responsibility, acknowledging the sacred weight of the duties entrusted to him.
As Justice Dr. Zeija takes on his new duties, the nation has high hopes for a fair and just justice system under his leadership.
The ceremony concluded with a cake-cutting celebration, moderated by HW Dr. Alex Mushabe Karocho, Private Legal Secretary to the Chief Justice.
