Dokolo, Uganda — Dokolo District Local Government has presented a draft budget estimate of UGX 35,816,760,000 (Thirty-Five billion, eight hundred sixteen million, seven hundred sixty thousand shillings only) for the 2026/2027 Financial Year.
The budget, presented by Hon Odongo Tonny Ocen, District Secretary of Finance and Administration, during a district council meeting, is expected to be sourced from Central Government transfers (95.3%), locally raised revenue (1.6%), external financing (1.0%), and other Government transfers (2.0%).
According to Odongo, 97.3% of the projected revenue (UGX. 34,866,364,000) will go to higher local government program levels, while 2.7% (UGX.950,396,000) will be allocated to lower local government.
The budget priorities include surveying and titling institutional land, installing piped water systems, rehabilitating boreholes, and implementing the Parish Development Model.
In the health sector, key areas of focus include completing the expanded mortuary at Dokolo HCIV, fencing selected Health Centre IIIs, and procuring critical hospital equipment.
In education, priorities include rehabilitating old classrooms, providing classroom desks, and implementing measures to enhance learning environments.
The budget presentation was made in accordance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), 2025, and was chaired by Joel Opota Okuma, the District Speaker.
