Dokolo, Uganda — The Dokolo District Service Commission has issued a warning to the public about fraudsters posing as recruitment officials, demanding money from job seekers in exchange for employment opportunities.‎‎

John Baptist Okello, the District Service Commission Chairperson, stated that some individuals are falsely claiming to represent the commission, asking for 2 million shillings from candidates.

‎‎Okello emphasized that the recruitment process is free and any candidate found offering bribes will be disqualified.

‎‎The warning comes after the district advertised various positions, including teachers, drivers, parish chiefs, and physical planners, with interviews set to begin on April 1st, 2026. ‎‎

Okello urged the public to report any suspicious calls to his office and provide information to help apprehend the conmen.‎‎

In a related development, Okello announced that the district will re-advertise the District Education Officer (DEO) position after failing to find a qualified candidate. ‎‎

The current DEO is set to retire, leaving the position vacant.

The district had advertised the DEO position, along with others, but no applicant met the requirements according to the commission.‎‎

The district will re-advertise the position and proceed with the recruitment process for other vacant positions.‎
