Police Investigate Mysterious Death of Hotel Manager in Lira

The police at Lira-City Central Division have announced their commitments to investigate the truth behind the tragedy,surrounding the death of one Opio Robert, aged 45 years, a manager at Rehema Hotel located at Tedam Cell, Barogole Ward, Lira-City West Division.

‎He was found lifeless in one of the rooms at the hotel.

‎According to the initial reports received from the hotel staff, Opio was last seen in the company of his colleagues at the hotel on the evening of 27th October 2025.

‎However, the situation took a tragic turn when his lifeless body was discovered in his room on Tuesday , 28th October 2025.

‎SP. Patrick Jimmy Okema, the police Public Relations Officer North Kyoga Region said the police at Lira-City Central Division were quickly informed of the incident and promptly responded to the scene.

‎”The area was secured and properly documented by the Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) and other detectives. The body was later transferred to the Lira Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination” Okema said.

‎According to Okema, investigations reveal that Opio had a history of epilepsy, which has led to speculation that it may have contributed to his sudden death.

‎He explained that statements have been recorded from hotel staff and family members as the police continue to gather more information.

‎”We express our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Opio during this difficult time. The pending postmortem report will provide more clarity on the events leading to his untimely demise” Okema noted.

‎He urge the public to refrain from spreading false rumors and allow the authorities to conduct a thorough and unbiased investigation on the matter.
