How Dokolo District Successfully Vaccinated Over 24,000 Cattle Against Foot and Mouth Disease

DOKOLO: A combined total of 24,566 animals have received immunization against foot and mouth disease in Dokolo district during quarter 4 of the financial year 2024/2025.

‎‎As reported during a council meeting by Alex Owera Omola, the Chairperson of Production, Marketing, Natural Resources and LED and District Councilor of Agwata town council, the Ministry of Agriculture, Animals Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) was responsible for administering the vaccinations.

‎‎According to Dr Richard Enyang, the District Production Officer in Dokolo, 24,566 animals have been immunized against foot and mouth disease in the district. ‎‎

He said out of the 70,000 head of cattle in the district, 24,000 have been successfully vaccinated.

The remaining numbers are yet to be vaccinated.‎‎

In the financial year of 2024/2025, over 30,000 doses of the foot and mouth disease vaccine were received by the district. ‎‎

Enyang urges and advises farmers to prioritize the vaccination of their animals against this highly contagious and lethal disease. ‎‎

He also highlights the positive impact that vaccination will have on the overall productivity of animal husbandry in the district.‎‎‎
