An In-Depth Look into the Quality of Acen Josephine Atia Okullo, Candidate for Dokolo North Constituency.

As the general elections in Uganda draw near and the parliamentary campaign is set to begin on 10th November, it is crucial to gather thorough information about the candidates before making your choice.

In Dokolo North constituency, there are six (6) candidates vying for the position, namely: Acen Josephine Atia Okullo (Independent), Ogwal Moses Goli (Independent), Ebyeru Godfrey (NUP), Ogwal Joseph Johns (NRM), Okello Alfred Junior (Democratic Front), and Ojok Francis (UPC).

‎In light of this, we present to you a detailed profile of one of the candidates, Acen Josephine Atia Okullo.

EDUCATION

‎Acen Josephine Atia Okullo is a Secondary teacher with a strong educational background.

‎She attended VH Public School in Lira, St. Mary’s School Aboke for O’level, Trinity College Nabbingo for A’level, and pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Education at Makerere University.

‎She also holds a postgraduate and masters degree from Uganda Management Institute.

‎WORK EXPERIENCE

‎With 18 years of working experience, Acen has served as a teacher and Deputy at various schools, including Luwero Secondary School, Kiwoko Secondary School, and Agwingiri Girls Secondary School.

‎She also worked as the District Education Officer in Amolatar for 6 years and served on several boards of governance in schools and universities.

‎FAMILY LIFE

‎Acen hails from Otuke district and was raised in Lira.

‎She is married to Kola (Okullo Peter) of Omollo Acol Odyek Onywal Iceng clan in Dokolo district.

‎Together, they have four children and reside in Dokolo Sub County, Adagmon Parish, Barrtugo village.

‎In May 2025, after 18 years of service, Acen resigned from her post as District Education Officer in Amolatar to secure position in the 12th parliament.

‎WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE ACEN (MANIFESTO)

‎Acen’s top priorities for Dokolo North constituency are to improve education and skill development for the youth as she promised to introduce free skills training centers once she is elected.

‎Her plan to boost the health sector has been seen when she  provided an ambulance for the constituency, with plans for a second one if elected with your support.

‎Her goal is to promote social and economic progress by collaborating with various registered SACCO groups.

‎She is also committed to advocating for the installation of electricity in rural areas.

‎Acen’s mission is to ensure the well-being of vulnerable groups such as the disabled, widows, widowers, truck drivers, and market vendors by establishing specific SACCOs for each group, etc.
