DOKOLO: In a recent meeting at Dokolo Technical School Dokolo district, UPC regional Vice Chairman Northern Uganda Christ Ongom set the record straight and refuted allegations that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni had any involvement in banning UPC Party President Jimmy James Micheal Akena Obote from contesting as the president of Uganda in the 2026 general elections.‎‎

Ongom, who was joined by FDC representative Brian Oguti and other party leaders, addressed a group of selected UPC and FDC Cadres in Dokolo district.

‎‎The purpose of the meeting was to mobilize votes for President Museveni from different political parties in Lango Subregion.

‎‎During the meeting, LCV Chairperson for Kwania district, Geoffrey Alex Ogwal Adyebo, chaired the discussions. ‎‎

Ongom emphasized that the UPC party failed to implement changes in their party’s constitution, which grants the party president the opportunity to contest for two terms. ‎‎

According to Ongom, this ultimately led to the blocking of their Presidential Candidate, Jimmy James Akena, from running for president.‎‎

However, Ongom made it clear that President Museveni had nothing to do with this decision.‎‎

In fact, Ongom urged the people of Dokolo district and Lango region as a whole to cast their votes for President Museveni in the upcoming elections for the better development of Uganda. ‎‎

This sentiment was echoed by many of the UPC and FDC leaders in Dokolo district who were present at the meeting.‎‎

They welcomed the initiative and pledged to vote overwhelmingly for President Museveni in the upcoming election.‎‎

Dokolo Assistant RDC Incharge Dokolo South, Isaac Ocheng Otim, commended the leaders of UPC and FDC in Lango for their proactive approach in supporting President Museveni in the coming election.

‎‎He also pledged total security and protection for the UPC and FDC supporters who have made the decision to vote for the NRM government in 2026.‎‎

It is clear that UPC regional Vice Chairman Christ Ongom’s statement serves to debunk any false allegations and set the record straight.‎
