Tragedy Strikes Dokolo District: Fatal Accident on Bata-Dokolo Road Claims Lives of Footballers

DOKOLO: Dokolo District was struck with tragedy on the evening of 7th December 2025, as the Territorial Police reported a single fatal accident on the Bata-Dokolo road. ‎‎

The incident, which occurred at around 20:30 hours, involved an Isuzu truck carrying footballers from Adwoki and Agwata, who were returning from a competition in Alebtong District.‎‎

According to SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Public Relations Officer North Kyoga Region, the driver, 28-year-old Okori Brain Pius, a resident of Agebo B Cell, Amuda Ward, Agwata Town Council in Dokolo District allegedly lost control of the vehicle at a hilly section in Arudabiro Cell, Northern Ward, Dokolo Town Council.

‎‎Okema said the truck then veered off the road, overturned, and claimed the lives of two passengers, while leaving six others with serious injuries.‎‎

He confirmed that the scene was swiftly visited and documented by the OC Traffic Dokolo and the team, highlighting the dedication of the local authorities in handling such sensitive matters.

‎‎Okema said the bodies of the deceased were taken to Dokolo HCIV Mortuary for post-mortem examination, while the injured victims were quickly taken to Dokolo HCIV for medical attention.‎‎

Okema said the motor vehicle, registered under number UBA 111R, has been impounded at Dokolo CPS yard, pending inspection by the I.O.V. Meanwhile, the driver has been detained, as investigations continue to uncover the cause of the accident. ‎‎

He said the names of the victims will be disclosed once confirmed.‎‎
