Dokolo District’s Path to Unity: Apili James Otto Sings Praises for New Chairperson Peter Ogwang.‎‎

The incumbent Dokolo district boss, Apili James Otto, has gracefully accepted his defeat and promised to support the newly elected chairperson, Peter Ogwang.

‎‎The election results of January 22nd, 2026, in Dokolo district, saw Peter Ogwang of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) emerge as the winner, with a resounding 29,113 votes.

‎‎Coming in second place was Apili James Otto of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), with a respectable 13,581 votes.

‎‎In his message, Otto expressed his gratitude to the people of Dokolo for their support and urged them to rally behind Ogwang as he takes on the mantle of district boss. ‎‎

He assured them that he will continue to serve and support the district in any way he can until his term ends in May.‎‎

“I do agree with the outcome and want to thank all the participants. Now that I will be in office until May, I am delighted to serve you all as I usher in my opponent, and I will continue to support him,” said an amiable Otto.‎‎

As the dust settles on the elections, Otto urges the residents of Dokolo district to put aside their political differences and come together for the betterment of their community and the country at large. ‎‎

He emphasizes the need for a united front that focuses on development instead of petty divisions, hatred, and jealousy.‎‎

Otto’s support for Ogwang is a strong message of unity and collaboration, as he believes that his presence in the district will help the newly elected chairperson to complete some of the plans that were already in motion. ‎‎

Apili James Otto’s magnanimous acceptance of defeat and promise of support for Peter Ogwang is a shining example of the true spirit of democracy and unity in Dokolo.‎
