Promoting Peace in Marriage: A Call for Calm and Dialogue, Says Dokolo’s RDC

Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Dokolo, Barbara Akech, has urged married women to handle conflicts with a calm and level-headed approach.‎‎

Her advise followed the incident in Te-Cell Village, Adagmon parish in Dokolo sub county, Dokolo district where a woman viciously attacked her husband with an axe, killing him instantly today Monday.

In the aftermath of this tragic event, Resident District Commissioner, Barbara Akech, has made a plea to married women to approach conflicts with calm and seek guidance from religious leaders, clan leaders, and other stakeholders before situations escalate. ‎‎

She has urged them to prioritize dialogue and counseling as a means to resolve disputes peacefully.‎‎

In a briefing with the media on Monday, Akech expressed her frustration with the growing number of domestic violence cases in Dokolo. ‎‎

According to her, while the security forces are working relentlessly to combat this issue, Akech pointed out that clan leaders are not doing enough to aid their progress.

She emphasized the need for clan leaders to open their eyes and step up their efforts in addressing domestic violence.‎‎

Akech directed clan leaders at all levels to take immediate action on reported domestic violence cases. ‎‎

She stressed the importance of separating couples who refuse to reconcile, as a means to prevent further escalation and harm. ‎‎

Akech emphasized the role of leaders in decisively intervening and finding solutions to these acts of violence.‎‎

Akech highlighted that men are not immune to these acts of violence, as some also fall victim to assaults by their spouses.‎
