Dokolo district was shaken by a shocking discovery of a middle age man who was found dead at Olweny swamp in Agwata Town Council, Dokolo district along Lira – Soroti highway.
Police are now on a search for the relatives of the deceased, who is believed to be a resident of Kwera Sub County in Dokolo district.
In an interview with LBS Radio, Corporal Leo Moses Ogwal, the community liaison officer for Dokolo district, confirmed the incident.
According to Ogwal, the body was dressed in a red T-shirt bearing the image of woman MP Sarah Aguti and blue khaki trousers.
“The police were immediately alerted and have since retrieved the body for further investigation.The body has been taken to Kaberamaido Mortuary for a post-mortem, and the police are appealing to the public for any information that could help identify the deceased and inform his relatives” Ogwal explained.
He said while investigations are ongoing, efforts are underway to make proper burial arrangements for the deceased.
In light of this, Ogwal has taken the opportunity to remind the community and the public to avoid being out late at night.
He also issued a stern warning against the dumping of carcasses in public places such as health centers, schools, and police stations.
