Uganda Woos Nordic Investors with Tourism Opportunities at Copenhagen Symposium

Copenhagen: Uganda has taken a significant step in strengthening its global tourism footprint following a successful Uganda–Danish/Nordic Tourism Symposium held in Scandic Spectrum Hotel.

The Uganda Showcases Tourist Potential at Nordic Symposium in Copenhagen was a true testament to the vibrancy and energy of Uganda.

Organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Copenhagen, the symposium brought together tourism stakeholders, investors, and Destination Management Companies (DMCs) from Uganda and across the Nordic region.

‎The engagement focused on building sustainable tourism partnerships and creating stronger linkages to promote Uganda as a preferred global destination.

‎Officiating the event, Uganda’s Ambassador to Copenhagen, Amb. Margaret M. Otteskov, welcomed participants and emphasised the importance of positioning Uganda on the international tourism market.

She highlighted the country’s strong eco-tourism potential and called upon Nordic partners to actively market Uganda across the region.

Ambassador Otteskov assured participants of Uganda’s safety for both tourism and investment, encouraging deeper collaboration with Nordic Destination Management Companies to expand the country’s visibility.

‎Participants noted Uganda’s competitive advantage, pointing to its unique wildlife, rich cultural heritage, and improving global connectivity. They also highlighted investment opportunities across the tourism value chain, including eco-tourism, hospitality, and transport services.

The symposium further showcased community-based tourism initiatives, cultural exchange programmes, and innovative tourism products aimed at enhancing visitor experiences while promoting sustainability.

Key outcomes included strengthened partnerships, growing investor interest, and renewed commitments to jointly market Uganda as a leading sustainable tourism destination.

The event concluded with Business-to-Business engagements and a vibrant cultural evening celebrating Uganda’s diverse heritage.
