Dokolo, Uganda — The Resident District Commissioner for Dokolo District, Babra Akech, has warned drug shop owners against selling government drugs and expired medications.
Akech delivered the stern warning at a stakeholders meeting attended by over 40 drug shop owners in Dokolo, emphasizing that selling government-labelled drugs is an offense with serious consequences.
Akech highlighted cases of aggression towards technical staff during inspections in areas like Okwalongwen and Kangai, stating that violence or obstruction won’t be tolerated.
She urged owners to view inspectors and the National Drug Authority (NDA) as partners in their business growth, equipped to guide on compliance, safety, and best practices.
Lawrence Taremwa, the National Drug Authority Drug Inspector for Northern Region, reminded owners of the Do’s and Don’t’s, licensing renewal procedures, and NDA duties.

He warned that owners have six months to follow procedure for impounded drugs and advised against selling government drugs or expired medications, which put citizens’ lives at risk.
Participants, including Achomo Patricia of God’s Son Drug shop and Solomon Okello of Vision Drug shop, pledged to implement guidelines and work with NDA for better services.
The meeting aimed to promote compliance and protect community health and safety.
