Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) Suppliers Conference 2026 is ongoing under the theme: “Expanding Business Opportunities through Procurement Excellence.”
This one-day engagement brings together Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), suppliers, financial institutions, media, and consumer representatives for open dialogue, sharing feedback, and aligning expectations.

The conference also reflects a deliberate shift from transactional supplier relationships to a more collaborative, partnership-driven model across Government.
Speaking at the Suppliers’ Conference earlier today, the executive director Uganda communication commission Hon. Nyombi Thembo emphasised that suppliers are not merely service providers, but key partners in delivering the Commission’s mandate.

He noted that procurement accounts for over 70% of UCC’s budget, making it the single largest area of expenditure and a function of strategic importance. For that reason, procurement is represented at the top management level and now operates under the direct oversight of the Office of the Executive Director, a move aimed at strengthening governance, accountability, and alignment with the Commission’s broader objectives.
Addressing concerns often associated with public procurement, Nyombi Thembo reaffirmed UCC’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and strict compliance with the law, in close collaboration with oversight institutions.
Looking ahead, he shared that UCC plans to fully digitise its procurement processes by the end of the year to improve efficiency, reduce bottlenecks, and lower the cost of doing business for both the Commission and its suppliers.
He also highlighted procurement as a tool for socio-economic transformation, supporting innovation, social inclusion, and better value for money for Ugandans.
The conference, he said, marks an important step toward stronger, more transparent, and mutually beneficial partnerships, encouraging open dialogue, feedback, and shared responsibility in improving public service delivery.
