Ambrose Ogwang, popularly known as Awitong, has emerged as a powerful figure in the Dokolo district of Uganda.
As an aspirant for the NRM district chairperson position, he has captured the attention of many with his unique approach and vision for a better tomorrow.
Ogwang recently made headlines with his bold statement on the current scenario of the NRM structural and primary election in Dokolo.
He has categorized the candidates into four distinct groups: those with the party at heart, the money-minded harvesters, the peeping candidates, and finally, the worst of the lot – those sent by opposition political parties to confuse the NRM members.
During a meeting organized by Grace Hanna Lalam, a women representative aspirant for the Dokolo district, Ogwang reiterated his stance.
The meeting, held in Agolowelo village in Adok sub-county, was attended by members of the Womens Council, Women League, Veterans, NRM sub county chairpersons, District councilors, Religious leaders, NRM DEC Members, Media and Lalam coordinators among others.
One of the main resolutions made at the meeting was for all NRM party members to fully support Lalam in her bid for the women representative seat.
This was met with resounding support and enthusiasm from the attendees, who acknowledged Lalam’s commitment and dedication to the party.
But it wasn’t just about throwing support behind Lalam. The meeting also emphasized on the need for unity within the NRM party in Dokolo.
It was made clear that any form of division or disunity would only weaken the party’s chances of winning the election and hinder its progress in the long run.
Another important resolution reached was for all NRM party losers in the primary elections to fully support the party’s flag bearers in the upcoming election.
In line with using party structures, it was also stressed upon that all NRM party contestants should use the established party structures in their campaigns.
This will provide a fair and level playing field for all candidates and ensure that the party’s image remains intact.
Lalam, further declared that she will not show support to any other candidates in the Dokolo North county until after the party’s primary election results.
To ensure a fair election, the meeting also tasked the NRM registrar to conduct a thorough check of the party’s register.
This will prevent any cases of ineligible individuals being allowed to vote or manipulate the outcome of the election.
Moreover, the meeting emphasized on the importance of avoiding greed within the party.
NRM party members should work together for the greater good, rather than being driven by personal gain or interests.
Lastly, the meeting concluded that all NRM leaders should respect the party’s policies and follow the established procedures.
Rubby Ogwali, the LC3 chairperson of Adok sub-county, echoed Ogwang’s sentiment, emphasizing on the importance of hope in the lives of people.
He reminded everyone that, no matter the challenges, hope is what keeps us going and striving for a better future.
Meanwhile, Lalam, the organizer of the meeting, highlighted its purpose – to unite and work together to defeat the opposition candidates in all positions in the upcoming election.
She stressed on the importance of unity and diversity within the party, stating that it will only lead to a stronger and more successful NRM.
Lalam also had some words of advice for those who may not succeed in the NRM primary election.
She urged them not to continue campaigning as independent candidates in the general election, as it would only divide the party and result in defeat.
She herself has experienced the consequences of such a decision during the Dokolo by-election, and she urged others not to make the same mistake.
In the world of politics, the success and strength of a political party hinges greatly on its leadership. This fact was emphasized by Fred Abok, a prominent figure in Dokolo sub county, during the meeting.
He explained that the key to a party’s endurance and influence lies in having competent and effective leaders at the helm.
Abok’s views were backed by his experience in the political landscape, particularly in his former party, the Forum for Democratic Change.
He disclosed that after the unfortunate passing of Cecilia Barbra Atim Ogwal, a respected figure in the party, the FDC in Dokolo district suffered a major setback, causing many of its members to jump ship and join the NRM party.
However, Abok also pointed out that simply being a member of the ruling party does not guarantee success.
He highlighted the importance of electing capable leaders within the NRM party itself, as failure to do so can lead to a weakened position and vulnerability to opposition parties like UPC.
The meeting organized by Grace Hanna Lalam has set the stage for a united and cohesive NRM party in Dokolo.
